SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) Community Schools in Multnomah County are full-service neighborhood hubs where the school and partners from across the community come together to make sure students and families have what they need to be successful – in school and in life. Madison SUN Community School works to engage the community in a systematic way to educate and support youth by providing wrap-around supports that eliminate barriers to academic success. We provide the following school-based services:

Extended Day Programming



In order to participate, all students must complete a SUN Registration Form each school year. (forms available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese). 

Extended Day

Extended Day programming is run in partnership with local non-profit community partners, as well we IRCO SUN Staff. All classes are free! Contact partner agencies to learn more and enroll.

Madison SUN Food Pantry

In partnership with Oregon Food Bank, the Madison Community Food Pantry distributes 3-5 day grocery supplies that include fresh produce, bread, milk, eggs, cans, pasta, and other non-perishables to Madison students and families weekly. The pantry is open to every Madison or Madison cluster family, as well as anyone living in the Madison High School area. Photo ID or proof of enrollment in a Madison cluster school is required. Pantry applications can be filled out in person at the Madison SUN Food Pantry.

Colegio de Padres, for parents of middle and high school students, hosts workshops that help parents, many of whom are immigrants, understand the educational system in the US and the challenges facing their children.
